New York The Deputy Commissioner at the New York City Mayor’s office, Dilip
Chauhan lauded the major development of observing Diwali as a public academy vacation for the first time in its history.
Mr Chauhan stressed the significance of this decision, attributing it to times of devoted advocacy by the Indian diaspora and the Indian- American community.
Mr Chauhan said that the Indian diaspora has worked hard to achieve success in this action and said,” Diwali means the jubilee of light over darkness”.
He said,” This time Diwali is so significant, first time in the history of New York City, Mayor Eric Adams has declared Diwali as a public vacation in the academy of New York City, after times ofadvocacy.Indian diaspora, Indian- Americancommunity.they have worked hard for this action. On Diwali, our children do not need to go to academy, they can spend time at home with their family and visit religious places and celebrate with the community.”
” Such a great to be a part of this action. Again, I wish everyone a happy and joyful Diwali. Diwali means the jubilee of light over darkness,” added the Deputy Commissioner.

Mayor Eric Adams called the moment a meaningful palm for the original families.” I am so prideful to have stood with Assemblymember@JeniferRajkumar and community leaders in the battle to make Diwali a academe vacation. I know it’s a little early in the cycle, but Shubh Diwali!.” the Mayor scribbled on Twitter.
