Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, premiered in theaters on October 19 this year and became the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023. Joseph Vijay aka Thalapathy played the lead role in the film. This film achieved fifth place among the highest grossing Indian films of the year. A short video of the director is now going viral on the internet in which he is talking about the possible sequel of the film. Lokesh has confirmed about Leo 2 in the viral video.
Update Regarding Leo 2
During an event, a fan asked the director for an update on LEO 2. He replied in Tamil and said that after completing his films, which include Rajinikanth’s Thalaivar 171 and Kaithi 2, he will soon start working on Leo 2. It is expected that production on the Leo sequel will begin in 2025. Lokesh further added, “Leo part two is definitely on, it’s always a good time working with Vijay Anna (sic).”

In the film Leo, Vijay plays the role of Joseph Parthiban, who owns a small café in Kashmir and attracts the attention of a drug cartel and takes down a gang of murderers and thugs. The film shows that the character’s past is linked to events that haunt him. Trisha Krishnan and Sanjay Dutt are also playing important roles in the film.
The film had collected so much
It took 25 days for Leo to cross the Rs 600 crore mark at the global box office. It was successful in theaters for four weeks and grossed more than its estimated budget of around Rs 275 crore. The film has emerged as one of the most successful Tamil films of the year by making it to the top 20 blockbuster films of India. After a good performance at the box office, the film has now been released on OTT giant Netflix. After the delivery of Kaithi and Vikram, Leo is the third portion of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s cinematic universe. On the work front, the director is looking forward to working with Rajinikanth for the first time for his upcoming film Thalaivar 171.
