Covid Cases in India: According to the Health Department, Covid-19 cases are increasing rapidly in India, especially in Kerala. With the advent of Omicron subspecies JN.1, state and central governments are working on measures to prevent its spread. In this situation, Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has revealed instructions for Covid-19 suspected or positive cases to be reported to hospitals.
Covid-19 Sub-Variant JN.1:
According to INSACOG, a total of 263 cases of JN.1 have been identified in the country, of which more than half are in Kerala. The existence of this subspecies has been proven from data from the months of November and December.
States affected by JN.1 Sub-Variant:
According to INSACOG, the presence of JN.1 has been detected in ten states and Union Territories, which include Kerala, Goa, Gujarat, Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Odisha.
Impact of JN.1 Variant:
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared this new strain as a variant of interest, which is under intense scientific investigation. It is proving dangerous for old people and people suffering from co-morbidities.
Covid update in maharashtra:
Maharashtra reported 70 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, with no deaths, but there are 731 active cases in the state. The death rate due to Covid here is 1.82 percent, while as per the report of the Health Department, the recovery rate is 98.17 percent.
India Reports 2 Covid Deaths:
India reported 2 COVID-related deaths on Monday, one in Karnataka and the other in Haryana, taking the total COVID deaths to more than 5.33 lakh.
